Our Visit to Local Ocean Conservation

For two weeks, we stayed in the stunning coastal town of Watamu, Kenya. Known for its breathtaking beaches, crystal-clear waters, and the protected Watamu Marine Park, this place is truly a paradise. But beyond its natural beauty, we also witnessed how fragile this ecosystem is—especially for the sea turtles that nest here.

Finally in Real Life

At SooBluu, we have been contributing to ocean protection for years. We donate 5% of our profits to Local Ocean Conservation (LOC), an organization dedicated to protecting sea turtles and their habitat. After all this time, we finally had the chance to see their incredible work in real life.

We were given a tour and learned about the threats turtles face, such as pollution, poaching, and habitat loss due to tourism development.

A Stack of Travel Towels Donated

To support their efforts, we donated a large stack of SooBluu travel towels to be sold in their shop. The proceeds help fund the rescue and care of injured turtles, nest protection, and community education.

Protecting the Sea Turtles

Watamu remains relatively unspoiled, but the increasing number of hotels and beach bars is causing turtles to lose their nesting sites, putting their survival at risk. LOC plays a crucial role in their protection.

Helping Together

Our visit reinforced how important it is to travel consciously and support local initiatives. Want to contribute? Follow @localoceanco to see how you can help, or make a purchase at SooBluu—every order directly supports this cause! 🌍💙
